Just a little history. Fort Shaw is a small town about three miles north of the farm. It was one of the first Large forts in Montana established in 1867. All that is left now is a nice tribute to the 1904 World Champion Indian School Womens Basketball Team and a couple of stone buildings and the military cemetery dated 1867. The Fort housed Calvary and protected the freight and shipping routes as well as the people living there. General Terry left there in spring of 1876 to meet up with the doomed Custer Division at the Little Big Horn.
