The property is described in the Calhoun County Courthouse in Deed Book 184 Page 67. The land is also identified by the Calhoun County Assessor as being parcel 7 on Map 15 of the tax maps for Lee Magisterial District.
The tract was once the site of a subsistence farm. An old stone foundation and remains of a cut-stone spring house are the only visible evidence of long-term occupation. The tract was once the site of a subsistence farm. An old stone foundation and remains of a cut-stone spring house are the only visible evidence of long-term occupation. The property is located in an active oil and gas field and a very old gas well in the center of the tract is still in production. Access to the property from County Route 18/3 is by way of a right of way that follows and old road up the bottom of the hollow that also serves as access to the well site.

The woodland of the property has been professionally managed for over thirty-five years. No timber has been harvested from the property for nearly thirty years. Grapevines were cut from the poplar trees on the 30 acres of the tract dominated by yellow poplar in the spring of 2017.
The tract is sloping and 100% tree covered. Terrain of the forestland varies from steep to moderately sloping. Yellow poplar of timber size dominates the easterly-facing hillsides and red and white oak dominates the westerly facing portion of the property. An old logging trail that is passable by ATV trail reaches the uppermost portion of the tract, ending at a gate and wire fence at the northeastern property boundary.

From WV Route 16 in Mount Zion, drive west on Calhoun County Route 18/3. About .3 miles after leaving WV 16, CR 18/3 descends steeply. After reaching the valley bottom drive past an old house with a rusty red roof. On the right side of the road, a few hundred feet past the house, the mouth of a small hollow with an old road cut by ATV tracks appears on the right. Multiple fluorescent plastic flags have been tied on roadside trees near the mouth of the hollow. Park there.
The property begins almost exactly a half mile up the road. Plastic flagging on old fence posts on the left side of the valley identifies the beginning of the tract. The ATV trail passes through the center of the property rising to a gate at the northernmost property boundary.
