Recreation
One of the benefits of this region is proximity to recreational opportunities with the Black Hills less than an hour away. Snow skiing and snowmobiling are major winter sports in the Black Hills and provide a backdrop seldom experienced anywhere else. Large water reservoirs throughout the region lend to water sports of all kinds just minutes away. The farm is secluded and scenic with a thriving deer population and great fishing on the nearby Orman Reservoir. TheBelle Fourche Dam, also known asOrman Dam, is a dam on Owl Creek inButte County, SD, approximately nine miles west of the south tract. The construction of Highway 212 created theBelle Fourche Reservoir, the Belle Fourche National Wildlife Refuge, and the Rocky Point Recreation Area. The reservoir has approximately eight thousand acres of water surface, 6700 acres of land, and 58 miles of shoreline. It’s stocked with walleye, catfish, and white bass. Average depth is twenty-five feet, but it has areas as deep as sixty feet at full capacity. Common activities at BFR include boating, fishing, ice fishing, ice skating, camping, cooking out, water skiing, fossil hunting and waterfowl hunting.
Excellent cover and habitat on the Rivervale Farm are provided by the Belle Fourche River bottoms running throughout the farm. Wildlife found on the Rivervale Farm includes large herds of white-tailed deer, turkey, coyote, grouse and waterfowl.
Agriculture
The farm totals 190 deeded acres. The property includes 83.1 acres of flood-irrigated land with the irrigation water provided by the Belle Fourche Irrigation Association. All pipe and pumps used in the irrigating of the property is included. Water is supplied by Butte/Meade rural water and high speed internet is available.
