Diamond S Ranch
The Diamond S Ranch consists of approximately 598 +/- deeded acres of land situated in Big Horn County, WY only two miles south of Hyattville (population 75). The property is bordered by thousands of acres of BLM which connects this unique recreational fishing and hunting property to the Big Horn Mountains. Approximately 1.48 miles of the highly coveted Paint Rock Creek meander through the Diamond S before its confluence with the Nowood River six miles downstream from the ranchs western boundary.
Paint Rock Creek provides some of Wyomings most unique free stone (non-dammed) fly fishing; with very little to no public interface. This river is truly only known to few and the numerous hatches, plentiful biomass and diversity in this section of river produce brown and rainbow trout averaging 15-18 and various Wyoming native Cutthroat species. This river is truly only known to few and the numerous hatches, plentiful biomass and diversity in this section of river produce brown and rainbow trout averaging 15-18 and various Wyoming native Cutthroat species. Throughout the summer with the varying CFS flows, youll find your best time of the day to toss dry flies to sizable brown trout, some 3-5lbs and pushing over 24.
The Diamond S Ranch has multiple fresh-water springs along the river, which add to the volume of Paint Rock Creek and help cool the water temperatures in peak summer fishing season.
In addition to the incredible fishing opportunities, the property holds healthy populations of upland game birds (primarily pheasants and chukar) throughout the irrigated fields and river bottoms and the land toward the south bordering BLM.
There is an opportunity to run a small AUM agricultural operation, which produces on average two tons of hay per acre on 389 irrigated acres with two center pivots and flood irrigation with excellent water rights.
