Built in what is now known as a Mississippi Planter Cottage Style, Selma is a story and a half house with a distinctly different variation of the typical center hall four room floor plan. It has a sixty-five-foot gallery running across the entire front faade, with a large middle room in the front half with a master bedroom, and a library at the other. The back half has what were probably cabinet rooms on either end, and a back gallery between them, later enclosed as a large den or dining room. The cabinet room on the left is a spacious master bedroom bath with walk-in closets while the one on the right, with an addition, is the modern kitchen, dining area, and laundry room.
One of the most charming architectural features of Selma house are the handsome twin staircases to the second floor off-of what once was the open gallery in the rear. The second floor has a large center room, repeating the first-floor plan, two smaller rooms on either side and many large closets throughout the second floor. Another unusual feature is that the chimney stack on the left is on the outside and the chimney stack on the right is on the inside wall serving those middle and far right rooms back-to-back.
The house has exquisite Federal moldings, door and window surrounds, chair railings, and seven original mantles, and beautiful wood floors. Selma also has eight original fireplaces and wine cellar with custom cypress wine racks, brick floors, and a fireplace.
