Step out of the ordinary. Anyone can live in a regular, old house, but not everyone gets to literally live in history. This entire farm is dedicated to the great history of the area, and is the long-term, labor of love for the owner family. Located approximately 7 miles from Columbia, along the original road that led to town, the main home consists of a documented log cabin, circa 1870, rescued from its' original location less than a mile away, and painstakingly reproduced on this beautiful farm. Much, if not all, of the original "feel" has been preserved, while modern necessities were tastefully added. A large living room, and 3 bedrooms are within the original structure, including the most amazing, wood-burning, stone fireplace. Walk through the front room, and you enter the modern addition that includes a modern kitchen, dining room, and huge den/living room that is perfect for large gatherings and entertaining. A screened porch off the side of the kitchen extends the gathering area in good weather, and connects the front porch, which has the most relaxing views you can imagine. Live in comfort with zoned split unit and gas wall furnaces. For the most authentic experience you can light a good, crackling fire in the big stone fireplace and step back in time 154 years. Need room for friends and guests? There's a second log cabin with a "dogtrot" breezeway and still more great sitting porches with amazing views of the pond and wide open farmland. There's a kitchen, living room and small bathroom on the first floors, and lots of sleeping space in the connecting bedroom above. This is an equally cool place with lots of charm. You gotta have storage space, so a log pen barn serves both cabins, with a large barn, storage building, and smokehouse located beyond the pond. Need more? There's an orchard, a large, spring-fed pond with a relaxing camp area, a covered shooting table, and an established shooting range through the woods, where matches are regularly held. The woods and fields are teeming with small game, and many deer have been harvested from the property. Just down the road is a great put-in point for canoeing, kayaking and fishing on Russell Creek. All this is located near Columbia, Kentucky, only a short drive from Green River Lake, Lake Cumberland, and about 2 hours from Lexington, Louisville, and Nashville. Although some of the furnishings are family heirlooms, many items shown in the photos are negotiable.
