The Washington Cascades are part of the Cascade Mountain Range which extends from British Columbia to California. This region, located in the center of the state, offers hundreds of miles of hiking, skiing and snow- shoeing trails, and opportunities for camping, backpacking and mountain climbing.

The largest city in the county is Wenatachee. Okanogan County borders Canada, and the largest city is Omak. In addition to the Cascade Mountains and Columbia River, the county also features the Okanogan River, Beaner Lake and North Gardner Mountain, the highest point in Okanogan County.
