The asphalt entry road guides you to the headquarters located at a high point on the west half of the ranch. The headquarters features a 4-2 main house, 5-2 guest house, foreman’s home, kitchen house with bar and gameroom, cleaning barn with walk-in freezer, tool shed, an outdoor covered barbecue pavilion and a water shed complete with 2,500 gallon reverse osmosis water treatment and booster pumps. For redundancy and backup supply to the headquarters, all four 300 foot deep water wells on the ranch tie into the water shed. The headquarters area is fenced and irrigated with every building opening up to the centrally located barbecue pavilion. Located due north of the headquarters is a large equipment barn, feed barn, cattle pens, dog kennels, bird cleaning station, certified deer breeding pens with loading chute, skeet range and rifle range.
With the ranch being featured on several outdoor shows, Wildside is well-known for excellent hunting. The native deer are unbelievable in this part of McMullen County located on the eastern edge of the Golden Triangle. In addition to the native deer which have produced deer scores over 180 B&C on the ranch, the owner has introduced 21 does from the Arrowhead Ranch and three other breeder does. The property has been under MLD for three years and carries an approximate 1 to 2 buck to doe ratio. With excellent herd management and appropriate resting, there are plenty of trophy whitetails roaming the pastures. If your friends and family get tired of fishing and deer hunting, they can hunt plentiful turkey and dove or release the dogs in the opened-up quail pasture. With the abundance of water and edges, quail hunting on the Wildside is second to none. If you are in the market for the best South Texas has to offer, give us a call to schedule a showing.
The Wildside Ranch is located 6 miles east of the Highway 16 and F.M. 624 intersection on Old San Diego Road in southern McMullen County. Both George West and Tilden are within a 30 minute drive from the ranch.
