The ranch is located 3.5 miles south of Brady and fronts on US Hwy 87. Brady is located within a 2 hour drive from both San Antonio and Austin, drive time to Ft. Worth is around 3 hours. Brady does have an airport with a 4600' landing strip. The closest commercial air service is in San Angelo.
At the center of the ranch compound is a lodge that is the gather point for the ranch activities. A huge great room is furnished with comfortable furniture along with pool table, shuffleboard and a bar area. The lodge is also equipment with a commercial grade kitchen as well as barbeque smokers and grills on the back patio of the lodge. The large dining room will easily seat 60 people for an event such as the ranch Thanksgiving dinner. Located in the hallway at the lodge is a map of the ranch showing locations of the blinds. Hunting assignments are made on a first come, first choice basis for the morning hunt, you put your tag on the blind you want that is available and that is where you hunt that morning. At noon all tags are removed and a new selection is made. Each partner is allowed to harvest 1 trophy buck and 1 management buck each year along with does. Normally about 150 head are harvested each season, that number is determined by the annual deer count which is performed via aerial survey twice annually.
The ranch employs a ranch manager plus one ranch hand. Together, they are responsible for dispensing 300,000 lbs of protein to the estimated 500 head white tail head. The ranch has a MLD (managed land level) 3 deer permit which allows a hunting season from October 1 to February 1. There are approximately 20 hunting blinds, 13 protein feeders and 30 corn feeders located on the ranch. Both fall and spring cultivated food plots cover approximately 400 acres of the ranch. There are also two pivot irrigation systems which are supplied by a 1840' deep Hickory well. The ranch has an excellent inventory of equipment to to property maintain the ranch operations. And the ranch shop facility is second to none. This is where the walk-in cooler and skinning rack is located.
The ranch also has excellent dove hunting. And to keep you sharp on your shooting skills there is a skeet range and a shooting range to provide a safe place to sight in your rifles. If fishing is also one of your passions, Staten Creek transverses the ranch and not only is there the dam behind the condo units, just down steam about a half mile is a 8+ acre lake, both are well stocked with bass that will provide a wild ride at the end of your line!
Each year the unit holders of the ranch meet to approve the annual ranch budget for the year. The assessment for the current year is $27,500 per unit member. This cost does not include the electric costs for your condo, nor does it cover housekeeping for your condo. If that service is something you would like, the ranch manager will arrange that and you will be invoiced for that service. The ranch manager is also available at certain times to cook and provide meals for you and your guests, you will be billed for as well. This operation is very much to a hunter/sportsman as a country club is to a golfer!
