**I recently returned from the claim, and spending just a weekend, we found about 1/2 of an ounce of gold, value approx. $720. Those with more time to prospect will find more.**

There are also all over the ground, many quartz rocks, both large and small, and are great for splitting open with a rock hammer looking for what is called, Quartz Gold, gold veins in the quartz rocks.

This claim has great access, many nice areas for camping, RV accessible, and gold discovered in surface prospecting. About an hour and a half west of Phoenix, from paved Salome road, to paved Eagle Eye road, to Federal Trail 9346. Best to have 4 wheel drive for the trail.

Washes traverse the claim, and act as a catch basin for gold mineralized ground.

This claim is in a very mineralized area, and is great for rock hounds, metal detecting, high banking, relic hunting, and dry-washing. Many historical gold rich producing mines are in this area, including the old Harquahala Bonanza Mine located SW, which once produced at today's gold prices, $100 million. Gentlly rolling terrain, small and large washes with good bedrock exposures and black sands. Area has mile after mile of jeep treels, including use for dune buggy, ATV, dirt biking, horse back riding, and hiking.

Maricopa County is in southwestern Arizona, is a region of broad desert plains and scattered mountain ranges. It is one of the largest areas of historic gold mining discoveries, especially in this NW part of the county.

The 22,880-acre Harquahala Mountains Wilderness lies in Maricopa and La Paz counties, 80 miles northwest of Phoenix, Arizona.

This wilderness contains part of one of western Arizona's largest desert mountain ranges. The 5,691-foot- high Harquahala Peak, the highest point in southwest Arizona, provides a breathtaking panorama of surrounding desert and distant mountain ranges. Different from many Sonoran Desert mountain ranges, the Harquahalas contain a screened interior canyon system. The distinctive ecosystems provide exceptional natural diversity, including a relict "island" of interior chaparral, desert grasslands and rare cactus populations. The area also supports habitat for desert bighorn sheep, desert tortoise, and mule deer populations.

Hikers, backpackers, wildlife observers and photographers will find many recreation opportunities here. Rugged topography and the area's sheltered Brown's Canyon interior drainage system furnish the solitude and secluded experience treasured by many wilderness visitors.

The beautiful Big Horn Mountains and Wilderness Area is SE.

To Federal Trail 9346, on the left, then using GPS coordinates from there

A transfer of ownership is a sale of legal, exclusive ownership of a mining claim site. To be a legally recorded claim, gold had to be found on the claim, which was completed by me, as I am the original claim locator.

Your ownership is legally conveyed via a Quit Claim deed, and legally recorded with the BLM and the county. A Quit Claim deed is the required legal document per the BLM. Each year, on or before September 1st, you need to file a form with the Bureau of Land Management, along with $140. We will supply this form to you. We have paid the fee, so not due again until Sept. 1, 2011. There are no taxes, as Arizona does not tax mining claims

An unpatented mining claim is a specific parcel of federal land, valuable for a specific mineral deposit or deposits. It is a parcel for which an individual has asserted a legal right of possession and the right to develop and extract a discovered, valuable, mineral deposit.

Mining claims are real property that you can buy, sell, or inherit. After proving the existence of valuable minerals on the land, the claim is legally recorded with the Bureau of Land Management, and the local county.

Gold always occurs in gravels in the metallic state and when so found has various physical characteristics. Gold is dense and heavy, it has a characteristic metallic color, and it is soft and easily malleable (it is easily formed by hammering). These are the characteristics used by prospectors to identify gold in the field.

Placer gold occurs on the claim as small grains derived from gossan formed by weathering, and oxidation of the gold, copper and iron rich veins. Gold also occurs as grains flakes and small nuggets derived from the erosion of mineralized fault zones on, and upstream from the claim.
