Wildlife

Surrounded by towering trees comprising a forest, the property fits into a wonderland of wildlife. It serves as a mating ground for grouse, while hummingbirds gracefully hover around the feeders. The property has been visited by a variety of animals, including coyotes, whitetail deer, elk, moose, black bear, wolves, turkey, and mountain lion.

Equine Accommodations

The beautiful 60 x 54 barn provides 4 permanent stalls with another 4 that are available with sliding barn doors and a stud stall area. The outdoor arena is 100 x 125 and has a large parking area for additional vehicles and horse trailers.

Local Area

Located in the scenic northwestern portion of Montana, Libby serves as the county seat for Lincoln County. Approximately 72 miles south of the Canadian border and 35 miles east of the Idaho border, the town was established in 1892 when the railroad constructed tracks along the Kootenai River to connect Eastern Montana with Idaho. With the Kootenai River flowing right through town, recreational activities are aplenty! Wildlife, forested wonderlands, and breathtaking scenery make this area a desirable location to live or visit! Area Attractions

Kootenai River Blue Ribbon Fishing

Originating in British Columbias Kootenay National Park, the Kootenai River flows for 485 miles into northwest Montana. This magnificent river supports populations of Westslope Cutthroat Trout, Bull Trout, Kokanee Salmon, and Rainbow Trout. Libby Dam was constructed with a completion in 1972 altering the rivers timing and flow. Therefore, theres a variety of rushing waters and shallow rapids along with deep pools and mid-stream islands. Libby Dam is architecturally one of the strongest and most massive types of its kind built today. The dam generates enough electricity for over 500,000 homes.

Lake Koocanusa

As a result of the Libby Dam being built, Lake Koocanusa formed. The lake offers boating, fishing, camping, and picnicking. It is 90 miles long and is home to a variety of fish species including Rainbow Trout, Westslope Cutthroat, Brook Trout, Kokanee Salmon, Burbot, Whitefish, and Kamloops (a strain of Rainbow Trout).

Kootenai National Forest

The rugged northwest corner of Montana is encompassed by 2.2 million acres of Kootenai National Forest. This forest is Montanas premier timber-producing forest. Mountain ranges included in this forest are the Whitefish Range, Purcell Mountains, Bitterroot Range, Salish Mountains, and Cabinet Mountains. Miles of backcountry roads are available to access the forest although some are closed to motorized vehicles to protect wildlife and watershed values. Enjoy activities such as mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, berry picking, and camping. Wildlife that are common include deer, elk, moose, and bear. Over 190 species of birds live here so birdwatchers can scan along the rivers to find eagles, great blue herons, kingfishers, and dippers to name a few.

Kootenai Falls

Be wowed by these spectacular falls! The Kootenai River flows over Kootenai Falls and can be viewed aerially from a swinging bridge! The falls were also the setting for the filming of the movie River Wild. Its an attraction not to be missed!

Turner Mountain Ski Area

Turner Mountain stands at 5,952 feet elevation and has 2,110-foot vertical rise. The all-volunteer run ski area has 20 runs ranging from Black Diamond to Beginner. 70% of the runs are rated Black Diamond. Turner Mountain is located 22 miles North of Libby, MT, about halfway between the Big Mountain and Schweiter Mountain ski areas of Montana and Idaho. Libby is served by Amtrak's Empire Builder and is easily accessible from Spokane and Glacier Park International Airports. US Highway 2 provides access from the East and West, and State Highway 37 from the Canadian border.
