TERRAINThis historic ranching operation is surrounded by breathtaking views of some of Colorado’s tallest peaks. Located at just under 7500 feet in elevation this ranch is an excellent production ranch and rich in good diversity. It ranges from low elevation timber to excellent meadows and willow bottoms to irrigated hay fields producing the worlds highest protein High Country Hay and Alfalfa. The Sangre de Cristo and Wet Mountain ranges are part of the San Isabel National Forest. The Historic Maytag Ranch sits on beautiful streams and meadows just below this beautiful range. With its border on National Forest this ranch lives big and offers direct access to thousands of acres of public land.
AMENITIESHomestead owners of the Maytag Ranch have access to over 2900 acres, and use of shared amenities including the use of the Main Lodge, with custom commercial kitchen and spacious great room for family gatherings or corporate events, two private, high-end, fully-furnished guest cabins, equestrian center including a 6-stall barn with runs, round pen and outdoor riding arena, and access to quarter horses, an organic garden, orchard and trout-stocked ponds. Two private, fully-furnished guest cabins, are available for guests of owners or current landowners that do not have a home built yet. Owners are allotted 4 weeks of use in the cabins.
RECREATIONThe Maytag Ranch is home to many wildlife species. Whether you are an avid bow hunter or just enjoy watching wildlife, this ranch and area are excellent. Trophy Mule Deer feed in the abundant meadows and massive Rocky Mountain Elk are constant visitors to the ranch. Many other species frequent the ranch such as Pronghorn Antelope, Merriam Turkeys, Black Bear, Mountain Lion and more.
Catch and release fishing on the ranch include opportunities on ponds and Lake Creek, where trout sip dry flies off the top water, or a spinner may lure the larger trout to strike. Fly rods and equipment are provided by the ranch, but owners are free to use their own tackle.
EXCURSIONSMaytag Ranch adjoins the National Forest providing direct access to the Rainbow Trail which skirts the northern and eastern edge of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains for approximately 60 miles.The Sangre de Cristo Mountains offer endless recreational opportunities. Whether you love camping, fishing, horseback riding, hunting or just hiking the miles and miles of trails the Sangres are sure to inspire you. The fishing in the Sangres is excellent with crystal clear high mountain lakes and superior dry fly fishing for Colorado Native Cutthroat Trout. The small creeks in the high country are home to abundant brook trout. The Arkansas River is located just 20 minutes to the north of the ranch offering world class gold medal fishing for Browns and Rainbows. River rafting on the Arkansas is world renowned and offers excitement for the whole family.
