Port Orford was recently named as the #2 town for coastal hiking - just behind Hana, Hawaii. A gorgeous area with a rugged coastline, sandy beaches, tall forests, rushing rivers and plenty of outdoor activities. The town is quaint and the Cape Blanco lighthouse is just up the road. Located just thirty minutes from the Bandon Dunes golf course - one of the highest rated courses in the United States - it is the perfect coastal get-away.
Lake Garrison offers the chance to kayak, canoe, paddle-board, swim and fish. The lake is stocked with large quantities of rainbow trout each spring and occasionally Steelhead. There is also a healthy population of big bass hiding in the reeds. Nearby rivers offer good runs of King and Chinook salmon and some of the biggest Steelhead on the Oregon Coast. Of course, the Pacific Ocean offers ample opportunity for fishing,
crabbing and recreating.
